Barefoot Baby Boutique was conceived by Martha Ogburn, nurse educator, author and family-child specialist. After raising three children herself, working in a variety of clinical settings and penning a medical thriller, the idea of opening a baby boutique appealed to her. The challenge to find unique gifts, classic toys and vintage-illustrated picture books set her creative wheels into motion. Discovering affordable designer cribs and cool retro apparel was icing on the cake.

With experiences as an infant development specialist in a neonatal ICU, a director of a crisis pregnancy center, and most recently as a therapist with a child and adolescent psychiatrist, Mrs. Ogburn brings a wealth of expertise to her new entrepreneurial role. As a result, the Barefoot Baby Boutique will not be just another baby shop, but a resource center for expectant and new parents. On the horizon are childbirth classes, postpartum support groups, breastfeeding seminars, infant massage tutorials, and “boot camps” for new dads.
